Defective component after boot-up

Thread Starter
Here's the story:

My uncle bought the video card (Diamond HD 6850, I told him to buy this one) on May 10 in Atlanta - GE. It was a present from him, he took here to Brazil (where I live) and I installed the video card, it was just perfect, playing games at Very High, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL!.

And on the 14th of July when I was turning on my PC, I suddenly saw a orange glow coming out of my case, I immediately took (Really fast like 1 second) off the power cord that goes to the power supply.

And I saw this after I took off the Video Card:

This card has only 2 months 10 days old and this SMD (I looked up on the internet) just burned off... By it self.

My power supply and CPU and motherboard are fine, in fact, i'm running on the same PC with the On-Board Graphics.

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955
Mobo: Biostar TA790GXE
RAM: 2X2GB RAM PATRIOT DDR2 800mHZ
3 SATAII Harddrives
Power Supply: Corsair 400CX (This is a great PSU and have the potential of supplying the energy for my "Build" and there is some juice left still!)

What Can i do? This was a present from my uncle that bought this in Atlanta and took here in Brazil.

CAN SOME ONE HELP ME??!?!

PS: I DID NOT OVERCLOCK THE CARD NOR CPU NOR RAM AT ANY TIME!
PS2: Sorry for my bad English, my mother language is Portuguese.

Contact diamond and see if you can get an RMA.... but I am not sure if they will honor it though, but doesn't hurt. May cost you a pretty penny to send it in so you could try and convince them to cover shipping.

The card died on its own, so it is no fault to you. Maybe contact your uncle and tell him the card died and see if he can help you out with the RMA process.

You'll have to send the card back to the US to get it rma'd. Warranties are only applied to the country of origin.

This. You will probably have to ship it to your uncle, and then have him complete the RMA.

If you do have another shop replace that part you will lose the warranty on the card. I wonder what caused that to happen. Those type of parts don't usually burn up unless they are exposed to some extra power. You might want to check the voltage coming out of the 8pin PCI-E power connector to make sure this wasn't caused by an issue with your PSU.

You could also scavenge a smd cap from an unused/dead card, if you have one laying around.
