XSPC Rasa questions...

Thread Starter
So...I'm new (as in first time, virgin etc.) to water cooling. I've been reading up a lot, and the consensus seems to tell me that the XSPC rasa kits are the best thing for my needs. I'm just looking to water cool my CPU. So...anyway, I have this great ase that can accommodate a radiator (240 or 360)....and I just had a few questions...

Is there any noteable difference between the 360 and 240? Ideally, I'd just get a 240. Would be less of a hassle.

How much of an improvement would it be over my current air cooler?

What's the maintenance like? I mean...if I have to refill resevoirs 3 times a day...I may not have the time to dedicate to it.

Installation...? Simple? Moderate? Useful set of instructions?? lol

Thanks!
Biggus D.

For just the CPU a 240 should be more than enough. I would get the RX 240 as opposed to the RS240 since it will help on noise and cool a little better.

The 360 would prob be the smartest idea though in terms of future proofing. If you are anything like me when i started out you will want to get the 360 so you can put your GPU on water as well. As soon as AMD 7000 southern island GPU's come out I am getting a RX240 to add to my current loop (rs240) and putting it under water.

If you had an amd rig I would recommend a 240 rad but you have a i7. so get a 360 rad kit for future proofing.

SB runs a bit less hot than the old 1366 platform. I'm getting lower temps ~65c @ 4.8 as opposed to my old 950 @ 4.4 70c. A 240 is plenty for a SB.

If you had read up on the RASA kits, did you evaluate the amount of pump issues that others have had and posted here at OCN and in other forums? The RASA kits have quality hardware ... except the pump. Even the low end Laing DDC-1 pump lasts longer and out performs the little submersible RASA pump.

The RASA RAD, blocks and hardware are all excellent. Can't argue about that at all. Just make sure the pump will last longer than the warranty.

being a wc virgin is not an excuse. I went a full custom set up my first time. Now if you are getting this get for being a cost effective way to water cool that is a good reason.
You are going to have to set it up like a custom loop cut tubing to proper length hook it up to barbs and etc.
This was my first wc venture back in 2009

I even have a water cooling guide in sig. as well as in the wc sticky section.

not if he plans on throwing a gpu in there.

i have a gtx 580 in my loop which gets as high as 55 degrees on gaming load. my amd chip doesnt go any higher than 40 degrees on the same load.

SB chip will run hotter than 40 on load with a 240 rad with a gpu in the loop.

which is why i suggested a 360 rad for future proofing.

if the OP is budget conscious it shouldnt matter in the and a 240 rad should be enough to get away with it as it is watercooling. but it wont be "awesome" watercooling.

Your post only mentioned cpu(s) (amd vs intel), so a SB can do quite nicely on a 240. Now, if op is going to throw in his gpu, the RS360 or RX360 (better for crossfire down the road) would be ideal. SB is significantly better in terms of thermal performance compared to the old 1366 cpus. Its like comparing the Denebs against the Thubans, where the are Thubans an improvement over its predecessor in many aspects including thermal performance.
