Referring back to this master list of Steam games, neither of the ones you're listing links to are Steamworks, and your links don't specifically say they're Steamworks either (though I'd imagine they SHOULD be if they're Steam-exclusive. Why can't Valve just label the games as being Steamworks? That would make this much easier... lol) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Steam_titles#2005

Okay i'll stop since the point is taken. Can we wrap this up? This is what ruins the news section on basically every thread nowadays.

Anywho,

It looks as though any non valve games that are able to activate on steam are steam exclusives that use it as a DRM.

Obviously no one has done this for EA's service, therefore it doesnt work that way. Stop bashing Origin (though i like steam better, but it seems as though all this site likes to do is bash something they have no idea about)

I don't think that steamworks is required for a steam exclusive, but i dont know.

Though every game i've found on that list appears to be steam exclusive if you google it enough. That'd take forever on all of those games though and we haven't found one that isnt steam exclusive yet so it doesn't appear to be false.

^ I don't think it's required either, because Steamworks is free and Valve wouldn't care less to sell a game for someone with or without Steamworks. The developer/publisher have to make their titles compatible with Steamworks, so I don't think the developers with these little releases like Silent Hill and Ragdoll Kungfu would have bothered with the effort.

More and more games force you to install Steam and use it to play them but for some reason most people now think it's ok, some even call it an "advantage". EA want you to install their Store with their games and now it's an outrage, they are the devil and want a complete monopoly, give me a break.

The irony is that I remember most people being pissed off when Empire Total War and Dawn of War II were released and forced you to use Steam, now new games do the same thing and same people cry "praise our Lord Valve, you are the only company which deserves my money and is the savior of PC gaming" >_<

Of course it's free, Valve won't make you pay for a service that forces your customers to use their store, and the devellopers want to use Steamworks to sell their DLC and also if possible sell to you their other games through Steam instead of going retail, increasing benefits for them.

Steamworks is free. But Valve will take a percentage of every sale. This is why retail games which are not Steamworks or Steam exclusive games will never activate on Steam. Simply put, money does not go to Valve's hands. There's no incentive for them.
