I collect the series and agree with the previous comment that up to veronica code was good after that it went down the drain quickly

I had such hope for this game since it was going back to Racoon City, even if we weren't going to be a real character. but this.. this is just sad

I hope its more than the arcadey games have been. I want RE with substance! I want my maps, puzzles, and scavenging! I want to be able to roam all over!!!

Back to playing Wii remakes on the PC... its about as good as it gets.

I have to disagree though that 1-3 and CV were the only good ones. I thought the "Outbreak File 1 / 2" PS2 games were definitely a little bit of new, with a little bit of old school, and were pretty good.

I feel that it very much resembles Left 4 Dead, both in gameplay and in art direction.

- Four-player, team-based mechanic
- Able to run and shoot simultaneously
- Ammunition is easily acquirable
- Takes place in a relatively wide and open city
- Linear path through the level
- Doesn't seem scary in general, so much as it seems action-oriented

Agreed. To me it looks like a slightly dumbed down third-person L4D.
If I had watched the video without knowing the name of the game I wouldn't have guessed that it was RE, ever.

Everything you just mentioned can be found in about every game out there. Just because it has zombies doesnt make it anything like L4D. The "requirements" for it to resemble L4D you listed is quite shallow.
I mean "the ability to run and shoot simultaneously". What on earth is that and what does that have to do with anything? I can name TONS of games that have that. Is Uncharted a "dumbed down version" of Left 4 Dead?

Did L4D feature humans vs humans?
Did you have to do mission based objectives?
Each character have special abilities?
A plot story and cinematics?
Team Deathmatch as well?
How about cover mechanics?
Was L4D in 3rd person?
Weapon customization?
None of those? Oh.

Someone mentioned Team Fortress 2. Even that sounds more closer to similarity than Left 4 Dead, and it doesn't even have zombies.

Seeing as how RE has NEVER been run and shoot at the same time... that was specifically important to mention.

It resembles l4d as in it sucks IMO, 4 player co op fighting...humans ***? don't want the plague don't want humans I just want freaking zombies or altered super humans(nemesis).
ALL I WANT IS A RETURN TO THE NORMAL, closed corridor maybe real aiming system, Slow moving puzzle based puzzle horror survival game -.-. not some action packed shoot everything that comes at you including guys with guns.. ***... NOT RESIDENT EVIL.


I gave this game the benefit of the doubt with it being from the point of view of umbrella... but this has completely trashed my trust in capcom which should've been thwarted long ago.

Hopefully between Dead Island and Dead Space I will regain some of my 8 year old zombie survival greatness.

****ty night and just all around pissed off about this game going to crap YET AGAIN to make more moneys Been collecting the games since I was 8 so this is a very sad thing for me.

Whilst you can't exactly run and shoot at the same time, it is still run and gun oriented rather than the slow paced strategy that the prequels used to offer.

The current games are not a branched franchise at all, that's a ludicrous statement, one that has no weight. Resident Evil 4 (on-wards) are just a natural evolution of the Resident Evil saga to cater to current market demands, hence why they have the continuation of the name (4,5 ect.) They simply adapted the game to cater to current demands, no one wants a slow paced puzzle game anymore, they want fast paced shooters. I know you were referring to this game being specifically franchised, my post was a summation of all current RE games, not just this one, which is why I felt it was important to explain myself.

Whilst most of us crave a refresh of the old style, we all know deep down that it would never survive in the current market, unfortunately.
