Looks like they finally put more open gameplay in it I only have two other problems with FF13, the money system, and no towns/villages to walk around and shop in. In my opinion, final fantasy 10 has the best gameplay of all the final fantasy games, with ff7 a very, very close second.

Edit: Skytank was a nightmare. I literally gave up the game for a month tring to beat him. Then again, I'm always under-levelled in rpg games by quite a bit.

Am I the only one who thinks towns with mindless NPCs giving useless information should remain a thing of the past?

Really? Holy smokes.
I mean, he took me like 3-4 tries but each try was like a 40 minute battle of insane back/forth close encounters that had me pulling my hair out.

Yeah, I grinded a bit but probably not as much as I should have at that point in the game. Probably because I was so tired of the same enemies over and over.

Not when they add depth to the game. And 13 needed it badly.

Having a city with useless NPCs/shops > save points located along a straight line with nothing but repeated enemies that also act as automated shopping malls with the same crap.
