Will disabling 'System Protection' on my SSD and enabling it on my HDD work?

Thread Starter
As in, the system restore points will be stored on my very spacious HDD as opposed to my space constrained SSD (which is also my C drive with Windows and apps).

I upload a pic of the menu in case anyone is unclear on what I'm talking about.

No, restore points are saved on the same drive/partition that they're taken from, there's no way to change this.

System restore is just a GUI interface to VSS. You can perform VSS backups from your system partition to your HDD yourself using diskshadow and robocopy. Let me know if you need more specific info.

If you're not sure what to do, my suggestion would be to download the free version of Acronis and enable the VSS backup feature through their GUI. Actually, while you're at it, you might as well pay for it and get the restore to dissimilar hardware feature. It's worth it.
