i2600k wattage concern

Thread Starter
Just needed some clarification.

TDP for this CPU is 95w.

I've been doing some mild overclocking, with disabled Speedstep and C1E to find a stable 24/7, wattage under HWMonitor is showing to go over 95 now.

Is this fine with overclocking? this is only with a straight 45x multi.

If it is ok, what limits on wattage should I be careful about, or looking at?

Another thing is this mobo can not disable LLC. LLC 1 to LLC 5. Read about this board and some relevant threads, but here goes.. I noticed that on 47x and using IBT, that occasionally the Vcore spotted in CPUz will go a little higher than the VID reading in CoreTemp.

so basically, no Vdroop at that time. Should I be upping the VCore to compensate?

You should be fine. Sandy Bridge is designed to exceed the 95w envelop for short periods of time when turboing above 3.4ghz. If it's allowed to go over 95w when stock, overclocking past 95w should be fine

As long as voltages and temperatures are kept at reasonable levels, wattage shouldn't be a concern.

Thread Starter
ok. thanks for the short answer so far. Is there a "new" max TDP I should be worrying about? or none? I mean, isn't there a thermal limit like 135W or 140W? I'm already pulling in about 125W...

also, to get opinions... these are my mobo's SVID reading for 4.5 and 4.7

45x
LLC1 1.352
LLC2 1.320-1.328
LLC3 1.296-1.304
LLC4 1.272
LLC5 1.248

47x
LLC1 1.360
LLC2 1.320-1.328
LLC3 1.296
LLC4 1.272
LLC5 1.240-1.248

These are observed. 43x will run on all stock bios settings at LLC5 VCore 1.240-1.248 no offset. Remember this mATX board can not disable LLC levels.

Can I get some opinions with numbers on running at 45x and 47x with some corresponding Vcore offsets?

Also, I know some experts say play with Turbo settings, this mobo will only allow enable and manual at 45x and 47x. The auto of course is 118/95/1 sec. I've read 140ish/120ish/1 sec.

After I get some opinions, I will voice concerns about Vdroop and VDrop again.

no..theres no max tdp....lol

it is what it is. it could run at 5000000000000 watts and not break. its your power supply, mobo and cooling that takes care of all of that
