At the end of the day, customer satisfaction is all that matters. If they enjoyed the previous version, they will buy the next version. They will continue to do so until the product no longer satisfies them. Humans are creatures of comfort.
Whilst I may not personally enjoy the COD series anymore, I won't belittle the series considering how well it's selling.
People can come in here and tell me that quality doesn't equal quantity all they want, but when a game is topping nearly every chart imaginable, I don't see how they have valids arguments to oppose the figures and statistics.
I put it down to personal opinion.

You can like a product, and like another product as well. People seem to forget this.
Its like when President Bush said if you are against the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, you were pro-terrorism. It doesn't work like that. Take Apple as a company, I generally don't like their recent public lawsuits, but I have nothing against their products. Again when dealing with the cult of mac, I have nothing against the products at all, they are very nice (expensive/overpriced but nice) but I can't stand the fanatics.
I don't understand why people feel better personally when they put down CoD. From what I have seen its mostly BF2/BC2 supporters. It almost appears to be the inferiority complex at work. Which doesn't make sense Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2 were fantastic. I don't get why people can't let other people enjoy one, the other, or both.
Alas, as Ron White said, "Can't fix stupid."
