So let's get this straight, you pinged your NIC and it found it, congrats, kinda like finding yourself on a "You Are here" map in a mall

jokes aside, at least you know that's working, well wish I could tell you more but alas I don't know :/

How do I check if my pc is working with multiple interfaces?

I assumed pinging myself would check if my adaptor is working correctly, am I wrong here?

have you ever used any HOSTS file editors that would set the file to read only? If you didn't, chances are you have something very bad on the computer. Maybe virus, malware, or trojan.

Nope, But I noticed the log is also reporting missing files.

I also encountered an error when trying to boot the xp setup, resulting in a blue screen.
It appears this is related to my Sata settings. (ACH1 or something) Maybe my windows 7 might have screwed up something due to the same reason?

I'll wait further response before I reinstall. But I'm hoping this log will help me out finding the source of the problem.

Thanks for all the help so far, much appreciated!

I use a switch for all 6 computers in my house and have set them all with there own IP, I have a ATT DSL modem with the IP 192.168.0.1 so thats my default gateway and DNS. check your modem and set acordingly. Dont know how it is over there but ATT here has added dhcp to there modems.
This route needs to be explored...I'm about 99.9% sure this is your problem. Most ISP's give home users 1 IP address by default... With a switch and 2 devices attached, you are requesting 2 IP's from your ISP and it's responding 'nope, you only get 1'. That '1' IP is assigned to your other PC (or another device on your network).

You need a router attached to the modem, and all other devices need to attach to your router. Routers distribute IP addresses for each device attached to it from the 1 provided by your ISP.

A lot of ISP's do this so they can 'con' you into buying some sort of add-on or upgrade. Time Warner used charge an extra $10/mo. for this "feature" when you could just throw a router on and get it for that one time cost.

On the PC that is working, what are the first 2 octets of your IP address... ex. 24.234.xx.xx ?

i am not an expert by any means on the Hijackthis log but it looks to me like some virus wiped out everything important on your computer. Worst case is starting from a fresh install again

Wich reminds me, I actually reinstalled windows 7.
However, I reinstalled win7 through desktop.

Maybe if I try through boot it might work?
