[URGENT] 2600k High FSB?400% OC?! 24:3 Ratio[URGENT]

Thread Starter
ok so long story short ive been dicking with my system for 12hours+ and for some reason the fsb will not stop overclocking itself. ive tried removing cmos battery, default settings, yet it'll be 79mhz with load or 300mhz (200% overclock) without load take in mind 100 is stock. My basic question is how do i stock everything out like i just bought the chip? im gonna try to format again but i dont think that'll do anything .... no matter what settings i do all the bus rates are extremely high. Before i just used the auto tuner and it was running 100mhz fsb. multiplier x48 at 1.55vs max load about 1.48-1.5 50%.

The only thing i changed once i took the cmos battery out was my GPU from the x8 slot on the bottom to the x16 but i noticed it pushes again the p67 chipset no matter what slot i put but it seems better on the bottom. Also my board is the p8p67 PRO.

Here is some pictures

i went from this

to this

Pc looks like this if it helps at all..

this whole thing happened because i didnt like 4.8ghz at 1.55Vcore.
i tried reversing my steps and running the auto tuner but the tuner stopped at 4.8ghz 1.68vcore and thats when i knew something was wrong and turned the pc off. i know very little about overclocking thats why i use auto tuner but i knew 1.6+ is bad considering i was getting spammed warning messages everywhere and red barred my vcore in bios. this is when i took the cmos out.

At the point i am at right now my cmos battery is out along with my gpu and computer is sitting... im not sure what to do because i dont think the fsb should be that way. if anyone can help me out with what to do i would be in debt to you for life!

if i missed anything let me know, ive been at it for hours and im on the verge of throwing my computer off the balcony and extremly sleep deprived

thx again overclock.net

It has to be an incorrect reading. You just can't run your FSB that high on sandy bridge without damaging something. I'm pretty sure it would be instant death to your chip or board.

I would forget about AIDA64 and just go by what CPUz is showing. Can you post a screen of CPUz showing incorrect readiings?

Edit: Sorry I didn't read your whole post (I hate it when people do that )

Put everything back together, start it up and then go into your BIOS. If you dont know how to do this you can just keep pressing the delete button (not back space) straight after turning your PC on untill the BIOS comes up.

I think in the top right there should be a button to exit or something like that. If you press that and select "go to advanced" it should open up a new page. Go to the AI tweaker heading and there you can see what your FSB is set at. This is where you should do your overclocking. Auto tuning is just a gimmick.
If your FSB is set to 100 then press F10, save and exit and your PC should restart.

Once back into windows, open up CPUz and see what you have. I would only ever trust CPUz's readings. Also make sure you have the latest version of CPUz.

If you already know how to get into your BIOS then it is not my intention to point out the obvious but you said you were new to overclocking.

that's impossible, dont worry about it. max bclk you could get out of one of those setups would be around 110 if you EXTREMELY lucky.

Sandy has a very limited bclk because everything is on the CPU, USB, PCI-E, SATA you name it, it's all running on the CPU. Jokah was correct when they said that CPU-z will report the correct number. if you want to be 100% sure, you can set it in bios to 100 but I assure you it's not actually running at 217mhz.

change your overclocking stuff to manual. Set your multi at whatever clock you're aiming for then set your voltages. That should keep the base clock at 100.

Go to the Ai Tweaker heading in your BIOS and then select CPU management. In there change your multiplier from auto to 46 and disable speed step and turbo. That should keep you at a constant 4.6Ghz.
