Sony Handycam A/v to Firewire??????

Hi, I know that some sony handycams have a firewire port on them themeselves, however I was wondering if they make a/v to firewire cables so that I could record straight on to my computer. I want to do this, because my sister is a guitar player and singer. She wnts to make videos however so far she has just been using her webcam in her laptop(she hasn't made a video in a while because her laptop is in peices awaiting a new screen).

So, as with everything I decided I would interject(spelling?) my love of technology and try to do improve her audio and video quality. I have a logitech mic so I want to try to record the live audio and video together.

The video camera I have is the dcr-sr42(I know a peice of crap and my dad is cheap). The only conectivity it has besides usb is a/v. This camera sadly does not suport usb streaming, so the only live output is the a/v port. So, really what I would like to know if they make a/v to firewire cables, and if I could then capture the video live.

Sorry for the jumbled mess this post is, my mind is a thoushand places right now.

you can do firewire straight to pc through your editing software i think. you will need to google it most likely as i honestly have never done something like that with a sony handycam. i have never heard of it. best bet is going to radioshack. or just buy a tape for the camera and do it the old fashion way and record it and the capture onto the computer.

Well, I've done some looking around and the sony handycam's A/V out is sadly not compatible with what I wanted to do. My current best bet would be to try to find a good webcam. I would truly like to find a nice video camera for my sister to use, but I don't have the money and she hasn't really proven herself enough to warrant dropping hundreds of $ on. I think if she gets 25 or 50 subscribers I will drop some of my money on her and make a nice studio for her, however as it stands it looks like I have no way to work this out.
