driver conflict

Thread Starter
So i built a machine for my old man about 4 months ago. Almost exactly as my sig. He's been toolin around and updating drivers and now has caused a conflict, or so i believe. Sporadically, any video or music file he plays will freeze the machine. No error in the event viewer except his hard reset, no blue screen.

He recently update his Ati driver, I rolled it back to 11.5.
He's using a xifi xtreme gamer soundcard and some logitech webcam with a microphone built in.

I do not see any conflicts in the device manager, I'm guessing i need to create a mini dump?

Any ideas? Suggestions? Something I may have overlooked?

My first suspicion would be some kind of codec or splitter causing the freeze

Turned out to be a corrupted Creative sound driver. Uninstalled and installed the new pax driver and all is good.
