Just going on the evidence of everything that has happened so far with this game. The game sends tess through the shaders. Tess cores are in the Nvidia shader cores. AMD have seperate cores therefor the tess cores are not being used.

Wondering if any of the newer drivers coming will fix CrossfireX issues with Dirt3 DX11. Seems I and others can't get it to work at all once CrossFire is enabled, but it works with single card.

You misunderstood tessellation. Tessellation is not some unique process like Ray Tracing,clipping plane,Global Illumination etc which needs dedicated hardware. Tessellation means adding more no.polygons to an existing tri or quad polygon which results in more smoothing of and more segments of a 3d model. If a character in game has 10k poly count you just give him tessellation anywhere in his full body eg:-arm which has 1k poly and will increase to 3k or 5k polycount to form a smooth edge. Towards the end tessellation is a normal vertex calculation which can be done by the gpu itself. Amd made a dedicated unit say:-240stream processors for doing tessellation operations which cann be accessed only in low level say:-OpenGl games and ATi driver itself. Crysis 2 exceeds the polygons the AMD tessellation unit can handle this is something wantedly Nvidia did so that AMD owners gets screwed. So any game with tessellation and Nvidia logo is sure to sabotage AMD

Tessellation is done by fixed function units between domain/hull shaders. Cayman's upgrade was a second dedicated unit, along with the 68xx series upgrades in efficiency.

The tessellation units in Crysis 2 are not being fully accessed. I can say this, as having 4 Cayman GPUs @ any resolution provides between 40-44% of GPU utilization.

Even programs that "choke" the tessellation capacity of these cards (tessmark @ xtreme conditions) will claim 99% usage across the entire array of GPUs. The Crysis 2 DX11 upgrade needs optimizations, and very badly. When the card utilization is at full-tilt, we'll be in a position to see just how well AMD hardware can perform in these circumstances.

It should not be allowed! Well Metro 2033 seems to run perfect at least.
