Atrix v iPhone4 v ???

Yo! Looking to get a new phone on AT&T. I went to a ATT store today and really liked the Atrix. I realize it's about a 6 month old phone, which is a long time in tech time. I liked the Atrix because it was thin mainly. I don't want to carry a brick in my pocket. I don't need a HUGE screen either.

I'm hoping someone could guide me in the right direction, with aesthetics please refer to the Atrix. That is the kind of phone I want. However, specs matter to me also, so I fear that the Atrix is slighly outdated.

I like my atrix, my girlfriend liked it too, it got her to give up the iphone 3gs. havent had an iphone 4 yet.

I had this same debate a bit ago, I liked the atrix for the specs that rival the iphone 4 and then what's under the hood.

But I have an ipod touch and I really did not like the snapping on android when you zoom or scroll. I also didn't like motoblur, and the performance was really the same with the two. (at least untill gingerbread)

Iphone also holds its value, so when the next Iphone comes out in a couple of months, I should be able to sell my iphone 4 and buy the 4gs for probably only a loss of 50 bucks, (and who knows with some less intelligent people on craigslist).

If you ask me, wait for the new iphone, if not, then get the iphone 4.

I <3 my iPhone 4. But if you like how the Atrix feels, by all means get what you feel is right for you. I personally suggest waiting for the iPhone 5. It should be much better than the iPhone 4.

Okay, let's step back a moment and think about this.

The Atrix is a 1GHz dual core phone, the iPhone is 1GHz single core. Being concerned over specs, I think the Atrix better fits that criteria.

The Atrix also has 1GB of ram, while the iPhone trails with 512MB of ram. Once again, if specs matter to you, the choice is rather clear.

Finally, while the Atrix comes with 16GB on board internal storage, you can expand that even further with a 32GB sd card. The iPhone's max will only be 32GB. Atrix wins again.

The iPhone is purely out classed by the Atrix in terms of specs, there is no debate here.

Now, that doesn't mean the Atrix is "better", if you happen to like iOS, the iPhone wins. But, Apple has never been the company to go to for specs, so that alone should make it a no brainer for your decision.

Oh, and the Atrix is HSPA+ (fake 4G), and yes it's significantly faster than 3G. The iPhone 4 is only 3G. Atrix wins again.

Btw, even with all this, I'd rather get the HTC Inspire 4G. It's got a 1GHz single core, 768MB of ram set up, which isn't exactly "better" than the Atrix, but I like more. XD

Or, you can put out a bit over $500 and buy an unlocked Nexus S like me(Canada's version)... nothing like vanilla android. ^_^

great time for me to check if anyone posted. very informative post miki. i've done a little bit of researching and it might be motoblur that kills it for me. i've never operated a android device. but i read that it slows the phone down and is hard to modify. can i install a "clean" version of android os?

also: thoughts on the infuse? it's a little bit bigger than i like, but if it is a clear winner against the atrix, i have no choice but to get it.

Motoblur does suck, but you can root the phone and install a custom rom (so yes clean OS). Also, recently Motorola unlocked the Atrix bootloader and it also runs Gingerbread.

hmm now i suppose its just between the atrix and infuse. i will have to go back to the store to try them out again. i wish the atrix had a better camera though. i love the iphone4 picture quality. anyway, at $100, i'm leaning towards the atrix. thanks again miki, knowing that the atrix has been unlocked is much more comforting.
