No need to do that.

If i have an install disk for the same version (the one i used to do the install on my new computer), could i use that, and then use the key from the copy on my old computer?
I thought upgrade keys were for upgrade disk and full install keys were for full install disk. if this is correct you would need the upgrade disk and a copy of vista to upgrade from.

you should be able to remove most of the data you want from the system. you can start by going through the uninstall section and removing your programs and the data with them. after you that you can manually go through your file system looking for pictures music movies other stuff that you want removed and delete that as well.

after you have done most of this. go make a new account for the person buying it. make it an admin again. login to said account. then delete your old account and chose to wipe all data with that account.

Of course you will want to manually go back through the users folder and delete everything there as well just for good measure. one you complete this you can then use a program like advance windows care to scan through the registry. to auto remove old entries from and ones that are not correct any longer since the removal of the other account.

now that you have this completed log out and log into safe mode. run whatever version of a driver cleaner software you have to remove all the nvidia or ati or whatever kind of drivers you want to remove.

this should pretty much help strip down your windows to a point were you can sell the machine with out being to worried.

however the purest form is to simply format the drive and install a fresh OS

Is win7 all contained in one folder? would it be possible just to erase everything but it?
You could erase everything but the essential files that Win7 placed would be gone, I suggest Reformatting and add a Fresh Install of Win7, ALOT Easier and format the other drives to wipe them too.

Another idea, but you could also make "Factory Recovery" discs and just use them. You would just have to burn a couple of discs and not have to deal with torrents or finding keys or anything.

Or you could just use the vista one (if you have it) and then just re-use the upgrade cd (if that even works, idk).
