Another 965BE venture.

Hey all, Thought id start my own thread about my 965 overclocking ventures instead of hijacking others.

I started with an easy 3.8 Ghz on stock voltages and a 2600mhz NB. Max temp was 45degC and idle 30DegC.

Then went straight up to 4ghz using a 200x20 and ended going up to 1.4125 Vcore. I had prime95 running for about 2 hours and thought it was running great max temps were at 47degC. This shot was at around 2hours:

So i left it and went do do some other things. Came back half hour later and found prime95 had stopped. Checked the last results and it said all test had passed and didnt show any failures. Max temp was 48degC, heres the screen shot of what i found:

I didnt get the BSOD or computer freezing up. What I was getting though was the desktop items would go fuzzy and icons would start flashing and doing all these wierd things. Do this sound like a system crash of some sort. I was only at 1.4125 Volts so i know i can bump up more, and there is still heaps oh heaps of head room in the temps department. This NH-d14 is awesome.

You getting BSOD when the FFT start to get big, try upping the CPU/NB voltage, you said you were stock right, try 1.2v-1.35v.

Cool thanks for that - will try more CPU/NB Volts. I think i did set it to 1.2 already when i upped NB freq to 2600. Should i go more Vcore also say 1.44, this seems to be quite normal for the 4gig guys.

It would help if you said what error code number you getting. When you BSOD

Hey what case are you using?

Does that Asus Motherboard have a CPU VDDA setting in the BIOS? It's been a bit since I worked on my M4A79T-Deluxe, even though I know you have a M3. You may try to lower the HT frequency in the BIOS.

Well like i said in my original post - i DID'NT BSOD, so no error messages. I only got the flashing and fuzzy icons. The computer didnt restart untill i restarted it myself. Im away for the weekend so cant play with it till i get back home on Monday. Will do some more tinkering then.

Well when i did the 3.8 OC i didnt have the MB in a case yet - just sitting on my desk on some books. This ran overnight and the room temps were down to 14degC. Its winter here now so maybe this helped with the pretty cool cpu temps.

I just bought a new case on Friday - NZXT Phantom in Black. This thing looks the goods. Put a 140mm in the front and an extra 200mm up top. This is how i ran the first 4ghz OC and as you can see the max temps were only 48degC.

Wow, okay, because that case has a lot of air cooling. So no doubt you should hit close to 4ghz, if not, then 4ghz.

Make sure there's no dust inside,

Were the flashing icons only while P95 was running, or kept going after it stopped? I've seen that happen sometimes while OCCT is running %100 on all cores, it stops if you stop the test.
