Yeah, I doubt it as well, but, you have to analyze all the variables.

If it was working fine before, it's not because he's limited or bottlenecked. Even a 5770 can max BC2 fine. Reinstall drivers properly, ie use driver sweeper before installing newer ones.
Yup, I was just pointing out he'd benefit from more, not that it was now somehow creating an issue.

I also pointed out the obvious, reinstall drivers.

He really wouldn't, at all. Propably no game will benefit from more than 4gb. Unless you're going ubermicro and playing 3 games at the same time that is.

And getting more would be really pushing it on a Deneb, and could possibly create even more problems.

You're welcome, I assumed that was the issue.

It's not that the game would, it's that the system itself would then the game would inherently benefit if the system is more smooth.

The amount you need on current systems, once you cross a threshold, is relative to how much you multitask too. So the Deneb statement doesn't seem correct to me, though I understand the logic of why you said it. The performance of the proc itself is likely in older systems and people have lower requirements for what they need in those systems. We're both correct, from different points of view.

Edit - Plus, it's always wise to have more ram then you need.

I also think you're limited by your system ram.

I average 50+ FPS at all times with Vsync on at 1080p with everything maxed, but with HBAO off, I have 4x AA and 8x Anisotropic using the system in my sig.

I know what to say.
People should think before giving advice. At least on this case he could only make the poor guy buy more useless RAM and have trouble with his OC because of two extra pairs, hours and hours, not to mention the money, lost because "it could be your ram". I mean... On other cases people usually say "ah it's your PSU that is the problem... And there goes some unfortunate OCNer going to buy a new PSU because of another OCNer craving for rep and empty on knowledge.

Some facts: There are only two games (that I know) that have x64 execs: crysis 1 and half life 2.
Both don't use more than 3gb of ram.

Now. the x86 architecture only allows applications to take advantage of no more than 3gb of ram. Doesn't matter the CPU or your OS, then. If the applications is written on x86 like most games, it's impossible to use more than 3gb of ram. (Unless it has a problem with memory leak, that won't cause low fps but will eventually crash the application - like GTA4)

If he has something else running on the background it's likely that he will loose FPS because of CPU cycles being stolen, not low RAM - windows would likely trigger a warning about this. Besides it would need lot's of stuff opened on the background to take those 2gbs of ram he still has.
Another point is that if he indeed was using swap instead of ram his FPS would drop to below 10, not 30s

Seriously, have ever read something about the differences between 32 and 64 bits? Did you know about that before saying his problem was RAM? Does it really make any sense to you?

So.. 4gb of ram is still enough.

And... Multitasking is a lie. An illusion. Our brains aren't multitask capable....

1, I suggested he would likely benefit, not that it was unequivocal fact. You apparently didn't read what I said. Most people are massively bottlenecked by 4gb of ram on a 64bit system relative to how much they multitask. He has a 64bit OS, but, i didn't assume he was suffering from any issues, it was just a likely scenario.

2, The x86 architecture paragraph wasn't needed as I was talking about the system, not the game.

3, I pointed out it's relative to what a person does on a system.

4, I also made sure to not let the lack of ram I perceived him to have to actually affect my diagnosis.

5, I solved his issue. Even though it was a simple driver reinstall.
