CM 212+, Asus P8P67 EVO & G.Skill Ripjaws X. Memory slot block?

Thread Starter
Hey guys I'm wondering if using this item combo blocks any of the motherboard's RAM slots.

If you could tell me I will appreciate it.

Also, how can I tell by my own if a certain combo blocks the slots without having to buy them? For next time future references.

Thanks.

i would assume that the evo have identical spacing with p8p67 3.0. if that's the case, yes the hyper 212+ will block the closest ram slot.

Just put the fan on afterwards installing the memory. My cooler doesn't block my Ripjaws, and its a similar size to the 212.

You *should* be ok, the Ripjaws don't seem to have extremely tall heatsinks, and the hyper 212 sits pretty high. If you have a problem, just exchange the incompatible product. Which direction are you planning to orient the 212? <- important to know

I had the 212+ and it covered my first ram slot. I had the push the fan up about an inch.

Just checked your Thermalright HR-01's with and it's almost 2cm shorter than the 212+. D:

Does this affect the heatsink performance? If so, by how much?

Your orientation is good. And moving the fan wont pose a problem. I am running a 4Ghz OC and I get 18c temps with a single fan on PULL of all things... (I know... im naughty...) the 212 is a wondrous hunk of metal.

That's good to know. xP

Also, I was comparing the CM 212+ size vs the Ripjaws X size and I think I would have to pull the fan up for about 7mm.

The Ripjaws X are about 38mm-40mm tall, the memory heatsinks would have about 6mm-4mm of empty space between them and the fan, is that a good distance? Or should I put the fan higher?

Thanks!

If you have it blowing out the back and not mounted to blow out the top, you should be okay. If it hits your RAM, just move the fan up a little, it'll be okay.
