I've seen quad Phenom running @7Ghz.
The Hex has 33% higher energy consumption => 33% heavier load on the mosfets and 33% more heat.

Both of those hinder overclocking to the poing where you need 500$ cooling and 1500$ mobo to reach the same clocks as a quad (or tri) on a much cheaper system with less trouble.

Yes, performance is much better, I'm not arguing that. But overclockability is about the same or lower (requiring more $$ or/and more effort).

What's the point of seen someone running quad phenom@7Ghz with phase cooling? The point is have an x6 yourself & share your oc knowledge based on your own experience rather than what you seen,I am sharing with TS based on my experience on my very own x6

Yeah, that's exactly the problem - you're making general assumptions based on 2 chips!

Hex doesn't OC easier than Quad. YOUR hex maybe did oc easier than YOUR quad smile.gif That's it
