nice pic, redwoodz. that built is nearly 800 before shipping though. i'm trying to keep it under 700 including shipping after rebates.

The problem with that build is that it is running a llano chip. The whole point of that is the APU, if you're buying a dedicated gpu then you're basically wasting money on the technology. The llano platform is something like the athlon series, they aren't really their top of the line cpu's. The 955 is still a better choice, and cheaper.

You're right about that, but how can you ignore the sexy black interior tongue.gif Also, you could take a look at the haf 912 which has better airflow and is around that price point. The regular cm 690 II (not advanced) is also like $70. But again, the appeal of a case is subjective, not everyone likes the same thing. The bitfenix shinobi is another great case at around that price but i'm not so sure where you can buy it. So many cases to choose from biggrin.gif

What kind of functionality do you want this HTPC to do(streaming SD/HD files, playing dvd/bluray discs, etc...)besides some gaming. Does your friend care about looks(is it going to sit inside an AV rack or somewhere else), my idea of an HTPC build is low-power, low-heat, low-noise and be able to blend in with my AV equipment, since I don't game I chose to go the Intel route but your build wants some gaming duties so the Amd Llano makes sense since it can handle light to moderate gaming, you can always add a low to mid range card later on for crossfire if you want more juice, plus why do you need a black edition cpu for an htpc when you don't need oc'ing for this build? Just my 2ct.

I'm not the one buying this rig, you quoted the wrong dude tongue.gif Anyway, it's apparent that this is turning into more than just a simple htpc.
