Vertex 3 Vs Vertex 3 Max Series - Page 2

Personally, I think it's worth it to pay more for the Max IOPS edition.
It is costly yes, but it appears those that have the MAX IOPS suffer less from the sandforce firmware problems, and from the looks on the forums, it is quite evident when you compare it to the regular vertex.

I'd still play it safer and go for a higher quality SLC.

You can recover 2-3GB as well if you disable the window's page file. It's got benefits as well, since you have more than enough RAM, which give you a speedier, overall system with it off.

Plus you don't let the swap file wear the crap out of your shiny new SSD.

OCZ does not recommend disabling the page file. It can be set to a static size. I set mine to 2 gigs maximum and minimum. With 8 gigs of ram, the pagefile won't see much writing and certainly not enough to worry about wearing out the ssd.

Yah... I actually stuff an old spinning SSD in my boxen for the sole purpose of holding the page file sometimes. Just keep it off the SSD. And, since the whole crap with firmware issues and bs out of OCZ, I don't believe half the crap the "recommend" or say anymore since we all found out they were talking straight out of their rear-end for months as soon as the 2.09 firmware was released and all the issues went away.
