6970 Watercooling Question

Thread Starter
I'm new to the whole water cooling aspect. My card typically at idle runs about 67-72°C.. which to me is extremely hot. I keep the fan on about 45-50% just to keep the card at 54°C.. I want to know if water cooling would be my best option to keep the card chilled.. I don't want the card to over heat.. Also what I should go with if I do go with water cooling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 6970 @ 1000/1450 idles at 28-30 and loads at 45.

Are you looking to just cool the card or cpu also?

My 6970 stays around 43 while playing BFBC2. I currently have a fullcover EK block which cools good but I had problems with the install. I had to sand down all the standoff to get good contact. The first block I had was a xspc razor which I never got good vrm temps and don't recommend. Look for a block that has flow over the vrms.

I'm not planning on the CPU. just the GPU. Just needed suggestions to what type of cooling I should use. I don't want to stress the fan out by keeping it 50% or higher to cool it. and I don't want the card to just overheat.

Nothing mate, everything you need comes with it as far as im aware. It is a rather large HSF in that it covers like 3 PCI Slots i think so if your running any other cards in your system that could be a problem.

Have a preferred website? But I won't need anything else? Everything is stock now except my CPU heat sink.
