Again... 3*GTX580s 1.5 GB TRI-SLI or 2*6990 Quad fire for benching+gaming @1920x1200? - Page 2

Well now Im really confused.. ..benching..? You would want another HCP1200 and some water at least for the GPU's -> to 'bench' them. I dont know your skill level or history in the bench arena.. but I would say there are far better investments for a bench rig, than additional monitors [something your not going to use at all for benching..yet takes up soo much additional space and money].

For gaming, go for a 6990 + 6970 (better performance for gaming than any sli gtx 580 or quad 6990 believe it or not), as 2 6990's don't scale well for gaming, but only benefit from benchmarks.

But like others were saying, you seriously should at least have a tri monitor setup or 2560x1600 res for that much GPU power...

single 580 here @ stock clocks. i7 930 @ 4.2ghz Bc2 90-120 fps. But new drivers down 10 fps Need to flash card with 950 core so bc2 wont crash and back to 100 fps. But hot summer days and no ac.

3 580s sli is crazy on a 60hz monitor @ 1200p. No point in that if one can, I know benching but make a bench build then water phase or someing more cost spent wise thn 3 580s. also 6 month new gpus (we hope for bf3)

right... maybe buying just two cards and a ss phase cooler would be a wiser thing to do...

thx. +rep

I wouldn't even bother at such a resolution. Huge waste of money.

Get 1 6970 or 1 GTX 580 1.5GB and you'll be set at 1920x1200. There is absolutely no reason to use 3-4 GPUs on a single 1920x1200 display. If you want to bench, go big and get 3 monitors and run 5760x1200. That will be worth 3-4 GPUs.
