Way to check if Macbook is stolen?

Thread Starter
So I'm looking at used Macbooks online. Some in great condition, others with loose hinges and whatnot. I've heard stories about people buying a used Macbook and finding out its stolen when they bring it to the Apple Store for repair and have it seized.

If you call/e-mail them with a serial # can they tell you if its been reported or something?

I would assume serial numbers. Ask for the serial number and call Apple and ask from there.
