GTX 570 or 580???

Thread Starter
I'm going to order my new build in 2 weeks

Based on a 2500k, asus p8p67 pro and everything in a fractal design define xl.

Now, the biggest part of the rig is the GPU but i don't know if i should go with a 580 ( EVGA GTX 580 DS ) or get a gtx 570 vanilla AND wait for new gen gpu from nvidia. And tet the best of this ( like a gtx 680...)

I will also get a 1000w psu ( cooler master silent pro gold) to sli two best-of-the-next-gen-gpu.

Whats your opinion? I got money for a 580 but i think it's worthless actually.
My build?..

2 460/560's walk all over a 580 so I know I would never buy one if I can spank it for a hundred or two less dollars.

Or you can get a 570 now & SLI it later. 580 is not worth the money. 10-15% faster than 570 and costs extra 150 dollars.
You can start saving on that extra $150 and pick a nice kepler card. or you can invest it in something better. mobo, cpu, cooler... etc

actually a 580 has around the same power for around $100 more but is also more future proof cause you could just add one later when they drop in price and be set to go for 3~4 years or more

EDIT: If you get two 560's like I did you won't regret it at the moment but you will in two years because like I said, You can always upgrade with another 580 later and add another two years onto that lifespan...

Thanks for being fast

Yeah, 570 could be enough for now. But i will change it for the greatest one of the next gen. I won't stick with it a year. Thats why i don't pick up the 580. I want the best of the best and the 570 would be a ''waiting'' card. ASlso, i need something kinda powerfull to play bf3 in HD when it come out. Thats why i don't go with GTX 560Ti. I'm unsure it would do the job.

Next gen should be in january. Q1 of 2012

I'm starting to find out that there is not really such thing as future proof with video cards if you like the latest stuff. Specially when there is a new direct x or something like that

You underestimate the 560's power but if your going to get a GTX570 check this link if you plan to Overclock it: LINK

With my two regular GTX560s I can run Crysis 2 maxed out with the DX11 Tessellation Patch and High Resolutions Patch. I maintain 60 FPS throughout 97% of that game with those settings.
