2600k Life Question

Thread Starter
The build i have in my sig is for school and i do a lot of 3d rendering/adobe after effects and what not. i was just wondering will the 2600k die quicker or should i be worried about anything while rendering throughout the night? it IS overclocked to 4.5 now and i want to push some more to about 4.8, my temps are all good at 4.5 as i have a noctua c14.

should i overclock more or just keep it at 4.5? thanks.

Higher voltages do effect the life of the chip, yes. But you will sell your chip and be onto another one long before anything happens due to the overclock. It'll last you at least 5 years, probably longer.

alright thanks a lot, and the added stress won't speed up the process at an overclocked speed?

Voltage and temp are what effect the life of the chip, not the frequency.

As long as you don't juice the chip too much and you keep the temps under control, you'll be fine.
