Long lasting/Durable Headset?

Thread Starter
I'm sure many of you have heard this before, someone replacing their headset once every 4-6 months. I've also had like 3 RAZER headsets and each one lasted no longer than 2 years maximum before it started having problems.

My question is, does anyone here know of any headsets that can last for at least 3-5 years? I'm not even slamming or mistreating my stuff and they still don't last for more than 1-2 years.

I was reading somewhere that turtlebeach brand headsets last a long time, don't know how true that is. And please, don't mention the whole deal about headphone + mic separate is the best way to go, as I want just a headset.

Thanks in advance.

Well Turtle Beach's are awesome I have had the x3 wireless for Xbox 360 for about 3 years with absolutely no problem at all and they sound amazing, of course you would need a Pc version but no problems from them.
I use Beats Solo for music and they are awesome as well.
I've heard Fatal1ty is decent(never tried them though).
Also the CM Storm.
Take a look at this as well,

I had two Turtle Beaches. Absolutely horrible airline headphone quality, both had their mic die within 2 months (no physical abuse/damage). Almost everyone here will tell you it's much better to buy headphones with a separate microphone. Headphones can last decades easily if you treat them fine.
In terms of reliability you CANNOT beat a high quality pair of headphones paired with a desktop or clipon microphone.

Alot of people recommend, for gaming, either Sennheiser HD555 (595 if higher budget) or Audio Technica AD700's, paired with either a Logitech Desktop Microphone or a Zalman ZM-MIC1.

Hope that helps.

What about durability? I read some people saying their Turtlebeach headsets lasting them for years (5+), but then someone on this thread just said it lasted him a couple months.

Literally every brand you just listed has horrible quality and is generally a waste of money.

lol @ turtle beaches and sound amazing.

They are few and far between. Headset makers usually use horrible and cheap parts in their pieces, so they are very likely to break down. They also charge a premium for their garbage, and the sound quality is terrible.

G35's held up really well and I treated them like crap for two years.
Headsets tend to be made by "gaming companies" and have cheaper wiring, especially since they need additional wires for the headset mic. You may find a headset that lasts for a while, but even then people here won't recommend it.

I had a pair for a year, but I did have some complaints. The right earcup has a slight buzz sound whenever the mic is raised/muted. The wiring is exposed from above the cups. The velcro strip that holds the headband becomes detached after just a couple switches. The right earcup actually snapped off the headband and needed to be super-glued. They weren't horrible, but they really don't compare to a "real" pair of headphones.

Wasnt going to post because my response would be redundant, but oh man I had to laugh at Turtle Beach being in the same sentence as "sound amazing" and being recommended as a durable headset. Get something made by audio technica and a clip on mic. My M50s are built like a tank.
