Strategy games ?

Hello !

I really enjoyed Age of Empire 2 and 3 as-well as Empire: Total War.

Is there anything better , similar to them ?

I want a strategy game that is as realistic as it can get. Preferably , fighting and war are not so important , but more like gathering resources , surviving etc.

I once saw a game , where the person had to drill wells to get water so his people didn't die , but first he had to find a good place for it. There were mines which you could enter and order workers where to dig. Didn't see anything else as I had to go. Would like to know this games name.

It is a very dated game, but I think one of the best.

empire earth
you can start from the beginning of time like clubmans and archers, and you advance ages like in aoe, and can get to planes, ships, tanks, nuclear bombs...
pretty good game

another one would be command and conquer generals - that would be modern only, tanks, helicopters, infantry...

and if you are into some space battle, sins of a solar empire is great, you go around capturing planets, having credits, metal and crystal, building fleets, defences and stuff

total annihilation is also great game, though it is old - bout same time as aoe1

i have tons of more recommendations but these would be my first, if you want more just say

Oh yeah,how could I forget!

Master of Orion 2. The best ever space strategy. I was trying to get into the Sins of a Solar Empire but clearly, you need to dedicate a lot of time to really appreciate it..

Tanks , air-planes , space , not exactly what I am looking for ^^ Some rock slingers , spearmen etc. No machinery , and war , not really into it so much , would like more of exploring and advanced things , not like , chop a tree down and you get wood , but when you maybe chop it , there is some bad wood and good one. Hard to explain sadly.
