Would a better router eliminate lag between multiple connections?

Thread Starter
We have about 5 connections going on at once in the house; sometimes six if netflix is going on. We actually have 2 different internet providers in the house as well, where one is dedicated to gaming use and the other just for everyone else; however, typically, only 1 person is on the faster one.

Whenever someone is on netflix, or watching a HD youtube video, I notice lag. Whenever two people are gaming on the our second provider, sometimes one of us would be kicked off. I'm wondering if a better router could resolve such issues?

I'm not exactly sure what the bandwidth is, but I'm sure it the same in this house - I'm just currently staying here for another month and then I'll be heading down with the rest of the family. It should be giving around 32mbps, or at least 24-30mbps on average. I'm sure the is significant enough for two gaming rigs. We used to game on 16mbps and have 3 rigs go on it at once, never had an issue before.

What sort of things can we try? Would it actually be the routers issue? Since there are a roughly 3-4 rigs on wireless at one time, would upgrading to a dual band router be the route to go?

Cheers on any input or suggestions.

So what is your current setup? Is it two modems to two routers? Is all your computer wireless N or G or is it a mix of both? If its a mix of both get a Simultaneous Dual band router, so that the N speeds can connect to the 5Ghz network ( Faster) And the G can connect to 2.4 ( regular)
