and the FX did really came back to its original glory .. now let's all pray that they hit the nail on single core performance .. at least make them decent or

i could do that .. but i could also get an 8170 and oc it some more biggrin.gif

simple liquid chiller comming soon biggrin.gif so ill have all the cooling needed

Is there an actual difference? Or is the 8170 higher binned?

Looks good. I think the 8150 will be the sweet-spot price : performance wise though.

Over at the Amd page in the sweepstakes rules it states that the 8 cores have a retail price of 300 USD so newegg will have them for 299.99?

if it turbo's to 4.5 stock ... i cant imagine that a 5ghz would be too hard to pull with great cooling

the 8170 surely passed higher standard to become what it is .. but will it have significant difference when it comes to oc'ing is anyone's guess

anyway since these are still rumors at this point ... all we can do is pray that its true and pray they all oc as good

6ghz would most likely require at least dry ice .. wich my basic chiller wont do ... but ill try my hardest to go as far as possible

^^ I'm pretty sure. Looking around the threads, I see a lot of high overclocks. More and more i'm seeing i7s at 5.1 ghz even.
but since most games use under 4 cores, and 8cores are needed to compete with 4/6 core intel in non-gaming things ....

bottom line for me is if they game poorly compared to a $220 i5-2500k, I won't get 1
