4.5 turbo, Im not sure if people really grasp that concept.

My 1100t crashes at 4.2 on water/chiller<--- that's enough to have condensation problems.

4.5 Stock is OMGCRAZY! This makes me a little skeptical.
Bulldozer/Zambezi arch =/= K10.5/Thuban arch.

dozer is not a thubie. dont compare it to one. but that clock speed is INCREDEBLY high... please dont end up like netcrap's 3.5Ghz Pentium 4s lol.

EDIT: i gotta stop double posting

Looked into it again.

The FX series is like the BE series all with an unlocked multi ?

I think AMD has been yanking our chain with the Q2 release date all along. Not only is the release date now in Q3 its right at the end of Q3, just a week and a half out from Q4.

Whats the bet widespread availability will not eventuate until well into October?

If the new turbo boost shuts off 4 cores then clocks the rest to 4Ghz+ then it isn't really improved over the first turbo core.
Well, since AMD showed off the FX box packaging,it seems that all FX processors are unlocked, unless AMD takes a 6 or 8 core with bad cores, lock the multi and sell it as a cheaper 4 core.

True but performance per watt may make it better, but hey.

Looking at the 6 core ones myself.

Yeah, probably to keep within the TDP as well. But will turbo scale with an overclock? Like 5Ghz on 4 cores,3ghz/idle/off on the other 4?
I'm liking the 95 watt 8 core,OC+ cool temps.

It's like cylinder deactivation on a V8 engine, but in reverse. 500Mhz boost on all cores is nice.

Some of the benefits of AMD Turbo CORE include:

Up to 500MHz of additional clock speed available with all cores active. This means even with 16 cores active with server workloads, all cores can boost at the same time. For those customers that want to maximize their performance, they now have the tools to do it.
Even higher boost states available with half of the cores active. We’re not stating exactly how high processors can boost with AMD Turbo CORE, but obviously if there is room for up to 500MHz with all cores active, fewer active cores would obviously mean less power, and more headroom to recapture with AMD Turbo CORE. At launch you will see processors marketed with a base and a maximum frequency, base will reflect the actual clock speed on the processor and max will reflect the highest AMD Turbo CORE state.
AMD Turbo CORE is deterministic, governed by power draw, not temperature as other competing products are. This means that even in warmer climates you’ll be able to take advantage of that extra headroom if you choose. This helps ensure a max frequency is workload dependent, making it more consistent and repeatable.

AMD I wish you luck for the first Archietcure change since Phenom and that had some bumb's on the road and didn't quite perform against Intel.

heres a question tho - if there is a turbo that will increase the clock speed no matter how many cores are active (lets say 100 for all cores 200 for one core for example) then what is the point of stock clock if the cpu will literally never use it? i mean at all times the cores are either clocked way down when idle or clocked up with turbo so... why not make the minimal turbo speed the new stock to avoid confusion and all that
