Newbie Overclocking Question - i5-2500k

Is it possible to overclock my i5-2500K safely using the stock heatsink? If so, how high could I go up to without causing stability issues?

You could probably do around 4ghz, however that depends on temps and how volt hungry your chip is and also depends on what your ambients are, but generally I think 4ghz should be obtainable with stock cooling.

Thanks for the reply. Would this cooler be better than the stock Intel one? Also, will it fit a 1155 socket? The product description says 1156 socket.

The Rocketfish has 92mm fans. People are saying it compares with a Hyper Tx3.

Its most likely a little better.I would stay away from Rocket fish. For $10 more you can get the H50 from best buy. They are sold out online but some still have them in stores. Or check out A70 on newegg. 95% of heaksinks fit most all socket types. 1156 will fit 1155 boards.

212+ is a very good budget cooler, that could even take you upto around 4.5ghz depending on your voltages.
