GTX570 on a 500w? (and how many watts for SLI)

So I ordered my Twin Frozr III 570 last night. I plan on ordering a new PSU soon, but will I be able to run it on my current 500w Earthwatts? I've got my i5 OC'd, rest of info in my sig.

EDIT: also, how powerful of a PSU should I get? I plan on going SLI. Was thinking about the 750w Corsair AX or the Seasonic modular.

500 is pretty much minimum for the 570. A high quality 750 watt power supply is recommended for SLI, 850 watts if you are overclocking hardcore.

OC'ing the GPU's themselves? I'll probably keep 'em stock, but they're factory OC'd anyway so I might have to look into an 850.

I would get an 850w PSU for SLI

I want at least a semi-modular PSU, was aiming for a fully-modular one but since I'm looking at 850w now I might have to go with a semi like the HX850 due to price.

EDIT: as for my 500w, can I run the 570 if I run my i5 at stock or something?
Nah, particularly with an i5-2500k (much lower power consumption that those looking at i7-9xx or Phenom II X4/X6 systems) and with just factory overclocks, 750W is plenty even for unrealistic stress test loads.

You can overclock the i5-2500k now with no problem.

If you want fully modular, you can get the Silverstone Strider Plus 750W:

Semi modular did you say?? lol

Look no further XFX XXX Edition semi modular 850w $155 ($140 after MIR)

Excellent PSU, if I remember correctly it's a rebranded seasonic and build quality is fantastic as per seasonic's quality levels biggrin.gif.

Or the XFX XXX Edition 750w Semi Modular $130 ($110 after MIR)

500w is not a minimum.

450-500w is fine for one GTX 570, and 700w is fine for two.
