Internal PLL Overvoltage - Enable or Disable? - Page 3

TwoCables, two quick questions if you have time smile.gif

1.) I've seen a lot of people set VRM Frequency to 350 manual. What exactly does it do? Is there a chance I can achieve my current OC with a bit less voltage if I set VRM Frequency to manual?

2.) I was under the impression that Intel Adaptive Thermal Monitor is undesired when overclocking. Was I misinformed and should I enable it?

I don't know. All I know is that JJ at Asus recommends 350 for overclocking:

With Sandy Bridge, it shouldn't affect stability at all. It's the future now. smile.gif

Thanks for the response. I'll do some research on the VRM Frequency.

In the guide I linked, I just noticed that he says that 350 is best for sustaining stability at 48x or above.

How has it been so far?

If it locked up twice while loading Windows, then it must be pretty unstable. What core voltage in CPU-Z do you get while running Prime95's Blend test?

I have a question: I have mine OC for i7 2600k to 43x 100mhz blck. I use the corsair A70 cooling and i notice that when my computer is idle, temp stays same if i disable PLL overvoltage. however, when the cpu is OC'ed, i.e. i run matlab with max 4.3ghz, the temp of CPU is about 50C while when the overvoltage is auto, it's only about 40C. Is that weird?
I notice that with ILL Overvoltage Auto, when i run at 4.3ghz, the vcore goes up to about 1.328V. instead of 1.4 or 5 as someone said... I need to run the computer at 4.3ghz for about 28 hours straight, do you think that I should keep it disabled or auto?
thank you

Disabled it unless you need it to boot a particular multi, usually high multi's, above 48x I would say.
