HTPC HD TV Recording Recommendations

Thread Starter
Hi all! I'm looking for recommendations on how to record HD TV via my HTPC. I have the following requirements:

MUST: Record in at least 720p, preferably 1080i.
MUST: Record/watch at least 2 programs concurrently.
MUST: Be compatible with Windows Media Center.
SHOULD: Be compatible with either Comcast, DirecTV, or Dish.

Basically, I want to be able to record at least OTA HD channels, and possibly HD cable channels, on the HTPC instead of using the cable/dish company's DVR.

I know this can be expensive, particularly for the cable/dish. I've looked at the Colossus, the HDHomerun, and the Ceton InfiniTV, but I'm still somewhat confused.

Thanks,
Bruce

I would go with the ceton infiniTV from what I've heard it has a seamless integration with windows media center where you can record in hd and stream to multiple pcs in your network. the real problem is trying to set the cable card with your cable provider they can be really confused sometimes.

I have heard great things about the ceton infiniTV as well.

I second cablecard, it will only work with comcast (or another cable provider).

Get the ceton, hdhomerun prime (not released?) or hauppage is releasing a dual tuner very soon.

These will integrate perfectly with WMC. They will allow you to record whatever channels you subscribe to besides PPV and on demand.

Like stated above the cable co.'s can be pretty clueless. You rent a cable card from them instead of a dvr box. They then have to come install it in your pc, same thing if you were to buy a tivo.

It doesn't take much hardware to run it i3 with integrated graphics or some like an athlon X2 with a 5450 is fine.

Good luck.
