H80 or H100

Either one of these are going to be way better than my Dark Knight air cooler since I believe they will allow more room in my case. So I am going to get one of them. But here is my question.

I brought the H80 from Microcenter for 99(price match TD). I haven't opened yet because I wasn't sure how much better the H100 would be. On the box of the H80 it shows a difference of only a few degrees at 100% load. I don't really care to much about such a small difference. So would I be good just opening up the H80 and calling it a day?

Has it even been released? I'm looking at Corsair's website and it's out of stock, I'm assuming from pre-orders. The H100 should give you better temps, but you'll have to wait for its release and some convincing reviews. I say go with the H80. It'll be more than enough and has plenty of positive reviews.

Rumors are saying that the H100 is going to be released next week. Well, it isn't really a rumor since it is the end of July and Corsair says it will be by out in July. But I don't really want to wait or pay a premium for it if it is only a small difference.

The difference between the H80 and the H100 at stock is negligible, with the H100 only being a couple degrees better. The main attraction to the H100 over the H80 though is the ability to be able to use four fans instead of two. On the H100 with two fans pulling and two fans pushing, you'll see a pretty significant difference in temps when comparing it to a H80 with just two fans.

If you only plan on ever using two fans with the H100, then just stick with your H80. If you see yourself getting four fans for the H100, then get the H100.

An H80 will suffice, but load temps will be better with more surface area, and two more fans couldn't possibly hurt anything.

As the above said, double the surface area and fans is a big plus. If you are overclocking hard and your case can fit it, I would go for the H100.

Seeing as you have the H80 in your hands though, it's a tough call. It may take a while for you to get your hands on a H100. I have mine back ordered and am awaiting for it to be in stock and ship.

You should be fine with an H80 - hell even OC'd to 4.6GHz I'm barely hitting the 60's in Prime...50's while gaming. The H100 is only about 2C cooler, but keep in mind that's the stock fan configuration - you can slap another two fans on the H100 for push/pull which will increase that gap.

Also know that the stock fans are very high quality, and they'll be made available for sale separately from Corsair eventually.

If you have the money/case space for a push-pull H100, go for it. But the H80 should be fine.

You should be fine with the H80. However, if your in no hurry and have the room in your case for a rad and a 4 fan push/ pull set-up i'd wait it out. Let's face it....your here for a reason and that is to get everything you can out of your system and if that means waiting and getting 2/3c difference H100.
