A marketing term that usually doesn't mean an awful lot. With mech boards, you can get NKRO, which allows you to press any combination of keys and have them all accepted. With non-mechs, they sometimes play with the design so that common key combinations are accepted, it would seem to me that a lot of the time, this doesn't really have any impact. The Sidewinder X4 does it properly though.

In terms of quiet keyboards, I think the best quiet-yet-decent-to-type-on keyboard I've encountered are those Apple aluminium keyboards. Probably not that applicable for a PC though (even though I use one on a PC in work )

The wired Apple keyboards work fine with Windows, although you will probably lose the media keys functionality (although you may be able to steal drivers from Boot Camp for that). The only problem I've had is that because the Command key is beside the space bar on a Mac keyboard, when you use them on a PC, Alt and Win key are effectively swapped from what you'd expect.

Then again, if you're a Mac user, you'll probably be used to this, and this will be an advantage. You could always swap them using software anyway.
