Horrible HD 4770 Performance - Page 2

Run speedfan with logging ON (configure - 'log' tab - tick enabled) and GPU-Z with 'updating in background' and 'log to file' ON.

then review temperatures during the time that you were playing and go from there.

Hm... this is odd. I suspect 1 or more of the following:

Crap drivers
card is overheating
card is dying
CPU overclock isn't stable
CPU is overheating
card just isn't working period no matter what you do it thanks to it was DOA.

From what I can tell your CPU is overheating. Reseat the heat sink and keep temps BELOW 55C. 62C is max.

Run AMD overdrive and monitor your temps.

It is notable WoW drastically has overhauled graphics in the last few years and is alot more demanding now I use to run with a 5600 or something Nvidia back in 04.

i tried new drivers . stock settings on 4770, idling at 60c. overheat?
i reset the cpu to stock everything, is my idle speed high?
i put this heatsink and cpu in a year ago, with no problems till recently, so it shouldnt be the cpu overheating should it?

i will log temps in game tomorrow.

during fable 3, max res, lowest settings, cpu was highest at 43c, gpu highest at 99% load, 68c.

from my own research, these temps are fine arent they?

my cpu idle is lower today i noticed.

in furmark stability test, xtreme burn, 1920x1080, (i turned off AA but during the test it said 8x MSAA), no post-proc, with browser and temp readings open, i hit 43c on the cpu, and an alarming 78c max on gpu. 36 avg fps, better than i thought.

all stock clocks

This is interesting. Try cleaning the dust out of your video card, because idling at 60c is not normal or good at all.

My cards idle at ~38 and ~48, the top card running hotter because of my sound card blocking it's intake and because it's gotta deal with the heat rising from the other card.
