Problems with new pc

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

Just got an brand spanking new pc.

Asus Rampage 3 (ROG)
12gb ram
i7 cpu

using exisiting 600w zalman power supply and an 8800 graphics card untill new one arrives. I have used all the new sata cables etc that came with the motherboard.
etc

Put it together last night, and cant get windows (windows 7) to load on it. Have tried an fresh install and multiple HDD's and still no luck.

Basically first time you try to install windows it goes through and starts to install, it gets most of the way thorugh and the pc just suddenly resets. It then tries to load into windows but at some stage from the black windows screen to the green windows loading screen it will just reboot.

Doesnt make an difference wether its in safe mode or not. It just keeps resetting itself over and over again.

We have dropped it right down to the basics with only 6gb ram, dvd drive, one hdd etc , and still no luck. We have even unplugged the whole lot and started from scratch.

Any ideas? Really desperate now frown.gif

This sounds like a RAM issue. Have you tried troubleshooting the problem yet? Try only placing 1 RAM stick into DIMM slot 1. Didn't work? Try a different RAM stick. Didn't work? Try a different RAM slot. Didn't work? Probably a bad motherboard.

tried the ram, had it with 12gb to start off with, but have dropped it down 4gb. Cant drop it down to one as its dual channel. Also the motherboard has lights on it that would light up if there was an problem with the cpu, vga or ram. none of these light up.

Mother board is just out of the packet yesterday...
