Anyone here refuse to buy XFX? - Page 10

Hey Xeb, grats on the new job,

I have only had one run in with them on a 4890, card failed and their service failed.

I have heard of people having good luck with there products, but I for one will never buy another as there are better vendors to buy off of out there.

That being siad do what you need to do to make a living, probably most of your customers will be nubs and the experienced customers are not going to be looking at XFX

I don't think you have to worry, just steer them to products of eaqual preformance

best of luck, how much instore discount do you get ???

I've have no issues with them. Bought a used XFX 9800GX2 a year or 2 back and it arrived DOA. I messed up on the re-registering of the card(I don't remember how exactly but I couldn't register it to my account because of it), but they replaced it anyways. Got a brand new GTX 275 within a week.

From my understanding their customer service is only ****ty in Europe, and as long as you buy reference there will be no issues with performance or the like.

Enjoy losing your job, dude.

Every time I've had an RMA with XFX, be it my own cards or my mate's cards, everything has gone smooth.

Anyways, as far as XFX, I have no problem purchasing their brand if it will save me a dollar or 2. Failure rate of graphics cards tends to be ~6% give or take a percentage or two depending on brand and real life RNG. If you sell 100 cards only 6 will be defective, probably half of the people that RMA the cards will have a good experience (we all know basing your opinion of a company on anecdotal evidence you gathered from the internet is faulty at best, I mean, lets be honest, people post on the internet to complain). That means 3 people *might* have a poor experience because you sold them XFX. Of course, 1 or 2 of those people won't even RMA the card, they will just buy a new one because they have more money than time. Either way, you might end up saving each of those people 30-40 USD which they can spend elsewhere.

Don't worry so much about brand, because honestly, it does not matter. The customer will be happy if you put together a computer that runs the games they want to play and saves them money so they feel like they got a good deal. Most people you will end up talking to (even at Microcenter) base their purchasing decisions on the all mighty dollar, not the name plastered on the front of the box. You should do your best to keep your suggestions in line with that one fact.
don't forget to push Powerspec and the Silver/Gold/Platinum product protection plans =)

And the markup for NOD32 is more like $43 dollars.

And what you say is completely true, thats why so many people walk into Microcenter and buy the Diablotek 600W PSU for $25bucks lol

there's no set discount from MC, its based on the net cost of the item for the store
so usually CPU/Motherboards/GPUs are pretty set in MSRP, markup is only about 10 dollars give or take

times you get the real big deal is when something goes clearance and discontinued.

And software is heavily marked up, especially OEM ones like NOD32
