Unlocked phenom ii x2 have their thermal sensors disabled right? Then how can we overclock without monitoring the temperature?

You would overclock it as on what you know. If it unlocks to 4 cores then treat it like a 4 core CPU and use the proper cooler.

all good choices. here is the info between those two cpu's . . .

however, if you get a mobo than can unlock the 555BE, then this bench is trashed.

I'll give you a hint: there isn't one.

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...e-updated.html

even a first gen i3 performs just as well as a first gen i7-which is far better than a ph II x4-even in multithreaded games like BFBC2. and in games where the i7 is better, both CPUs deliver completely solid performance [i.e. 60fps vs 90fps]
I am sorry, good sir. But the AMD Phenom II X4 955 at the same price is better price-performance.
Edit:The proof rude people want:
PassMark - CPU Mark
AMD Phenom II X4 955 4,350 $119.99*
Intel Core i3-2100 3,831 $118.99*
