[Softpedia] EVGA Teases Upcoming LGA 2011 Motherboard - Page 2

I'm not sure EVGA's Mobo team is very strong now... A few people left and they really struggled to get out a P67 board. Asus and Gigabyte seem to have the best enthusiast offerings these days.

I certainly hope that isn't true. One reason I'm looking forward to an X79 rig is the fact that the CPU won't be bottlenecked for a long time and so essentially the only thing changing in this build in the next 5 or more years is the graphics card. As future proof as it gets.

hard for me to believe SB-E will not include a PCIe 3.0 since IB does have it (see ASRock Gen3 board).

sometimes rumors are just rumors..

on topic :

MAGNUM TX10 Extreme Edition ~$650
EVGA SR-3 MB ? ~$450
2 x Intel Xeon S2011 ~$2000
4 x 4gb RAM Corsair CL9 2133Mhz 1.5v Limited edition - $1000
4 x EVGA GTX 580 Classified (or next gen ATI/Nvidia if available) - ~$3000
1 x OCZ Vortex 3 Pro 200GB - ~$600
2 x whatever HDD you like who cares.. ~$300
Quad Liquid Cooling loops, including two of those 700mm radiators (only heard of those never actually seen one) ~$3000
3 x Samsung 27" 2560x1440 SA850 ~$2100
50 x all that crap you discover you need to buy when you start your build.. ~$200

Edit doh.gif(the PC won't run on air, need electrons) :

2 x Corsair AX 1200W - $560
so it takes $13860 to build world record water cooled PC ?

p.s don't take my list too seriously, of course I didn't get it right on a 3min post

That was not a standard motherboard feature in that case, it was added later. PCI-e 3.0 being a native feature to the architecture, it's expected in X79, but as the rumor goes Intel may cut it to get it out the door sooner.

Yes, eVGA did that with the P67 Classified, too. I honestly don't know why all such power connections and headers at the board edges aren't right-angled, right-angle pieces DO exist for where it's desired, almost regardless of what it's for; there's even a board with a right-angle USB 3.0 header, though I forget which one it is.

Wha...? headscratch.gif I wasn't trying to make a joke, I was actually hoping they were going to tease us with a tiny shot of the (supposedly dual-socket) X79 Classified. They ARE working on it, you know...

yes, my point being it's illogical for Intel to have an EE CPU without a feature a Mainstream CPU will have.

a 2nd reason why I think Intel wouldn't just let that feature go - the amount of SATA ports is actually an important factor on some Mid-Small servers (saves the cost of adding an HBA)
