What about in Task Manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC)? Under the performance tab do you see 8 separate graphs?

Try going to the BIOS setting the CPU amount to 3, 2, 1. Restart, boot into windows, check to make sure it's working (2 threads x CPU amount = total number of threads), then restart, change BIOS setting back to All, restart, boot, and check.

If you have flashed bios/reset cmos which should rule out bios problem, reseat cpu rule out contact issue, then if you cant get msconfig to show 8 threads, I would reinstall windows.

btw...what were you doing when you lost 1 core?

Under the performance tab i have 6 separate graphs.
Tried the CPU amount with 3 i had 6 treads, 2 had 4 treads, 1 had 2 treads.
Changed back to all and i had still 6 treads.
