Rig for BF3

Thread Starter
So, I wanted to ask if this rig will be able to work with BF3 on high resolutions, etc... Because I don't want it to play on low settings, I want it to run fluently, etc...
Do you have any ideas to improve this rig to run BF3 on higher settings?

Motherboard: GIGABYTE H55M-USB3
CPU: i7 870
GPU: GTX 460
RAM: 4GB

definately, infact why even get an i7? do you need 8 threads? i5 760 or 750 overclock just the same and wud be much cheaper.

You really want a better mobo, something that will allow sli down the line

If you are building this rig from scratch, I would suggest getting a Z68 LGA 1155 motherboard and a 2500k. There's no point in buying last gen. A GTX 460 would probably be able to handle BF3 at a healthy setting. 4 GB of ram would suffice.

We have NO IDEA how many threads the final build will use, it has not been announced.

Could very well use 8

It will run it fine. It wouldn't hurt to go to an i5 (HT won't be very helpful, not yet at least). Of course, all these questions can't be answered until the game actually comes out.

OCN really needs a thread that simplifies the term maxing out btw.

Oh, maybe I should mention that this is the rig of a friend of mine and he already owns the parts I posted. He just wanted to know if he is going to need an upgrade for BF3 and if yes what should he upgrade to run it decently on quite high specs.
