i7-2600k with Asus (Having Problem)

Thread Starter
I built my signature rig back in April. It has been running fine until this morning.

I went to turn it on and its not sending a signal to the monitor, keyboard or mouse. Or the monitor is not sensing that the computer is on because it goes right to sleep mode. Both keyboard and usb mouse are off as well.

Any ideas

Doesn't sound like it is getting too far. The monitor seems to be working ok if it is going right into sleep mode.

Does the computer stay on or shut off?

If usb devices are not working, my first guess would be motherboard as it seems to be something hardware related. I do not think it is the graphics card as usb devices do not play into that. Those are just my guesses though. that p67 board should have diagnostic lights on it. do any of them light up and just stay there?

Also, if it came with an attachment to read boot error codes, try plugging that in and see what you get.

On the other hand, if the computer stays on, it could still be some issue with the motherboard because of the usb devices, but I would get another monitor and see what it does and if you have an older video card, see if that works. Just some tips to help narrow things down a bit.

also, not sure what monitor you have, but these are some other steps. THey might seem stupid, but they are worth double checking.

Make sure the monitor is on the correct input and plugged into the video card all the way, and of course check the video card power cables and make sure they are plugged in.

The computer stays on, it does not shut off. I see on the mobo the CPU LED light is on. I am unsure why it would be illuminated since nothing has changed since I used it yesterday.

Ok Im back and running. I had the computer plugged into an "always on" jack on my power strip.

Unplugged from always on. and kept unplugged for 10 mins. Plugged it back in and the PCB reset all error codes. I guess by keeping it on always on the error code would not clear not allowing it to post.

Working good now smile.gif TG I was F-ING PISSED wink.gif

That is very wierd. Not even sure why the cpu led would come on after reading what you did to fix it. I would be mad too if my pc stopped working. Guess your like me, desktop stops working, I go nuts. Glad to see you back up and running smile.gif
