Heating up.

Hello everyone,

I rent a house and my air conditioner blew today. So far it's hit about 85-90 degrees in the house. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to help keep my computer cool during this crazy heat. I called the people and they said there would be at least a three week wait on having someone come out just to look at the ac unit. So I'm wondering how a constant room temp of say 90 degrees will effect my pc, and if there is anything I could do to help it out while I wait for them to come and repair / replace my air conditioining. I was thinking of moving it down stairs because it's about twenty degrees cooler, but it's really moist down there ( basement ) so I decided not to do that.

Thanks in advance xD

It should be fine in the basement for 3 weeks. I would buy a dehumidifier for the basement and put it down there. You can pick one up for around $100, and you might want one anyway down there to prevent the growth of mold.

Otherwise, just keep an eye on your temps it shouldn't have a huge impact. If you're OC'd consider turning that off until you get cooler.

Thanks for the input, I was just looking up dehumidifiers before I read your reply. I'll probably do as you suggested, like you said with it being that moist down there I'll want one anyway . I have a huge industrial fan I was going to throw down there too to keep air circulating. I'm not sure if that's going to help anything though. There is a ton of condensation on the cement in the basement I wonder if one dehumidifier will be enough or not. Thanks again xD.

It will be enough

You will just have to empty the water out often

Meh, I personally don't worry about it in the summer heat. Days sometimes get to 34C here, and I just underclock/undervolt my CPU if it's really severe.. no AC, just a standard window fan to keep ME cool

Although there are consequences.. such as 45C~ idle and 55C~ load (at stock ) (AMD chip)
