GTX 580 price drop likely?

Hiya,

I am gathering components (in my sig) for my gaming rig, and am going to grab an ASUS ROG 580GTX MATRIX PLATINUM.

Wondering, will there be a small price drop incoming as the new 590s just came out??

Yes. How soon? Who knows.

Maybe Q1 of next year, after Keplers come out (if they come out by then).

They are slowly dropping now, but probably nothing below 430-450 by years end. BTW newegg has the matrix GTX580 for $20 off today...

Ok, thanks for the input. As for the $20 off at Newegg, I am Canadian, and on NCIX.com (Canadian based, USA friendly) they are only $549.99 regular price. Can't wait to get this bad boy

I thought the MSI GTX580 Lightning was the best 580 out?

I am an ASUS fanboy. I don't wanna ruin my rig with some random MSI part, lol. I like the look of the MATRIX Platinum, and ASUS rocks my box

Well here's the thing about that bro.

1. Asus card is way overpriced.
2. Doesn't cool as well.
3. Takes up 3 slots.
4. From what I gather doesn't overclock nearly as well as the lightning.
5. MSI is a completely custom high quality PCB etc...

Trust me dude, you'll save yourself money and get a better OC and temps.
I picked mine up for $400
