Linksys WRT160NL issue

Thread Starter
hello,

i've recently purchased this router

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833124343

for $20 , seems like a reasonable price to me.

the issue that i've been having with this router is that the wireless connection on the router loses out, about once or twice a day, and requires a reboot of the router from the site of 192.168.1.1 through DD-WRT site .

is there a way to fix the dropping of wireless connection ?

try tweaking the antennas power. it should be under wireless advanced options in DD WRT. The default is 70 mw. you can try a number lower or higher, but imo never above 120

oh im sorry i dont know how i completely missed that but reading the atheros thread it seems that ddwrt hasnt matured yet for this router as many other users are experiencing problems with Wifi and DHCP issues some have moved on to openwrt you can read more about it here from page 1 to 22 http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtop...er=asc&start=0

note you may want to consider going back to stock. to test

Is it wrong to apply the "you get what you pay for" mentality with a router? I am not saying that you need true enterprise class for the home, but 20.00 for a router, man that just seems destined for trouble. I have only home quality routers (and one Untangle) and have paid from 45.00 to 130.00 for them.It is true that I do not make use of my routers wireless capabilities as I consider doing so an unacceptable security risk, only wired for me.
