either the droid x2 or the droid 3.

I would say the Droid Incredible 2 or the Droid 3 as well as the Thunderbolt. I guess it is a hard decision.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. My good ole' enV touch is on it's last leg (literally, only one hinge is intact). It saddens me to see that all of Verizon's "dumb" phones suck to epic proportions, as a minimum $30 data plan is beyond difficult to stomach. Non-contract services are looking more and more attractive.

Another vote for the Droid3.

but because you can't stomach a 30 dollar data plan, you are now unable to ever get unlimited data ever again. While if you would have had an unlimited plan before the 7th of this month, you would have kept your 30 dollars unlimited plan rather then being forced to pay upwards of 80 dollars a month just for for 10gb.

My issue is that I'm not a huge consumer of mobile data on a cellular network. I just assume use wifi features when available. I don't need to watch a movie on a 3.5" screen. Regardless, having a minimum of $30 for any plan when there are very few alternatives (feast your eyes) is discouraging. I'm currently on a family plan so unless I break off from it, I'm stuck with Verizon. Maybe I'll be able to convince the fam to switch to at&t, but who knows.

I got the Casio GzOne Commando. It is a rugged smart phone, and has proved it too me. I dropped it into a bowl of cereal, and could read the text through the milk. Plus I have dropped it a million times. And completely soaked it in sweat from working outside(literally, I could ring my shirt out and fill a small cup).

But it is my first and only smart phone, but it is sweet as hell looking.

Here is the link to a page about the phone
