Assist with future RMA, 2nd owner, how does it work?

So I see guys selling their video cards....and mention assisting with future RMAs to the 2nd owner if needed...so how does that exactly work?

I know some video card manufactures say they only serve original owners...but how would they know?

Just make sure that return address matches the address which sent the card in... I've had an RMA refused for that very reason.

Companies like EVGA ask their users to register their card... if there is a mismatch anywhere along the line during the RMA, automatic refusal.

I suppose it would depend on wether the original owner has registered the card or not. If he has it will not only be registered to his or her name but also there address.

If it hasn't been registered then surely they would have no way of knowing. As long as the original owner provides you with the original proof of purchase and the card is still in warranty, even though it has not been registered, then you should be good to go.

I once had an EVGA card that I never registerd and it died 1 month after going out of warranty. I contacted them and they said get it registered (even though your supposed to register them within 30 days), send it to us and we will replace it if it truly is faulty. New card arrived a couple of weeks after sending my faulty one.

I don't think any other company would be so generous but its food for thought.

Well all the ones I see in for sale, they say its registered to them...and they will assist with future RMA

so lets just say I end up buying an evga card as the 2nd owner....if anything goes wrong, I just contact the first owner and have him fill out an RMA ticket...then I send it into evga...they do whatever they need to do (whether repair or replace)...then they send it back to the original owner, then original owner sends it back to me?

I really wondered this too, because really, how long do you hang onto RMA'ing it for someone else? I could see a year after you sell off your card. But like 5 years down the road or something, would you still RMA it for like the 5th owner?
